Rear suspension Empty Rear suspension

Post  allegrogt Mon Apr 11, 2011 11:21 am

Hi everone!

I'm new in this forum and let me introduce myself.
I life in Klagenfurt/Austria, 36 years old and own an Allegro 1300 2door MKI since 1993.
For me the cars is fantastic, it's unique style, everyone turns the head when you cruise the street down,
and with some minor changes you can make a wonderful car.
My car has this special color, green, like the Mini from Mr. Bean.

And with the age it's necessary to replace some parts of the car
Last year I spend my Allegro a new engine (lead free)
and since 2 years i'm working on a new front dry suspension.
Last Saturday i made the 1st test drive with the new front suspension and it worked.
But during this time the left rear suspension unit get leaking.
There is no chance to get spare parts here in Austria, most of the parts i got on ebay.

So I'm asking you all Allegro friends if there is someone who can help to bring the Allegro back to the road.

Thanks in advance for you help

best regards

Rear suspension Empty hyrdogas suspension

Post  pompeymuttley Sun May 06, 2012 3:24 pm

My 1979 Allegro 1.1 delux`s rear suspension was very low on one side, looking into it I found that the hyrdogas suspension pipe was corroded and leaking. I spend months phoning and looking around for new pipes but many I found were also in bad condition. I ended up taking the drivers side pipe off the car and taking it to a metal fabricators and they recreated the pipe for £35 (bargain) all I had to do was refit the pipe and get it filled back up.

Rear suspension Empty Ask for a MG man

Post  svefol Mon Aug 13, 2012 11:39 am

Hi! I am from Norway, and the amount of running Allegros is pretty low, so there is no personel to ask about anything, unless we remember that we are part of the British Leyland community! So the problems with hydragas, can easily be solved when you find a owner of a MG (which should be a lot of people). Good luck! Sverre

you could also have a look on ebay, from time to time hydrogas/hydro elastic pumps are for sale.
if you search google there are instruction on the internet to make your own pump from an old brake master cylinder.
hydrogas fluid is readily available from companys such as morris lubricants.
