New to this site
Hello and happy new year to all :I'm active on a few ford based forum but I've went and bought a 1979 Vanden Plas 1500 project
This is my first foray into the world of BL for about 20 years, having worked in a Austin Rover dealership way back when, so wish me luck...

...Welcome Aboard! ...you'll be instantley forgiven from my point of view as ive done the same, a hardened conditioned Ford owner/enthusiast of most ages of vehicle thru the years and still run one as the daily smoker! ...Then I went out and did something very silly aswell 2 months ago, bought a 1975 Series 1 1500 Special, also cutting my teeth again! - so far no regrets ...yet?

Welcome!
hello and welcome to the forum
I'm also very active on XJ40.com, a Jaguar site, and I really think a bunch of like-minded enthusiasts makes life a hell of a lot easier than plowing a lonely furrow, so to speak
There's really three of us on here going through the same issues with our Allegro's, and I've saved a few quid just by taking advice from the other guys, if you need some help, just ask, if we don't know the answer, then between us we should be able to find it
I find it really helps if you can post pictures of your car and works, if only to satisfy everyone else's curiosity, and if you look in the "how to" section, I've posted a way of doing it quite easily, and if I can do it, anyone can
Have you bought your car on ebay? Is it one of the one's we've been watching? There's been a couple I'd have loved to buy if it wasn't for the fact they're always miles away, and of course i already have one
Looking forward to reading all about your car,
Cheers,
Jim

Re: New to this site
Thanks lads, I bought it locally from an old guy who had it for years, it's in pretty good nick, needing only outer sills and a couple small repairs round the edges. Non runner at the mo as its been sat for around 3 years and there's one or two bits been robbed (cap n leads, fuel pump and screen wash pump....)
It's champagne gold with brown trim
I'll post up a pic when I get a chance to take one
Cheers

Hi Davie and welcome to the site !!
I used to have a champagne morris marina 1.8 so know the colour well it's very easy on the eye. Nice one! Looks great against the chromework.
As the other guy's said, any questions or issues just holler, we are all fairly active on here several times a week & going through our own restorations of varying stages right now. I'm also a member of the Allegro Club so if we don't know the answer, somebody in there certainly will.
Sounds like a nice winter project you have there, ready for the shows in the sping/summer Look forward to seeing your pictures & progress.
My 'old girl' is a November 1974 VP auto type 1, colour is Mirage (grey/mauve) and trim is tan leather, one of the first ones out of the factory being less than a month into production. I'm doing a fairly comprehensive restoration as It's been stood around for at least 13 years & then thrown out. I rescued it from a scrapyard 18 months ago, should be ready this early spring i hope, been a long job
You can pick up our threads in the 'on topic' section - enjoy !!
Keep us posted & all the best. Andy.
