...C-Clip urgently needed for the outer end of the driveshaft that locks it into the outer CV Joint, none of the factors have any so they say but they just cant be bothered more like, pathetic this is... done the outer CV Boot on mine for the MOT and found the clip is missing, its not in the CV joint itself, allready checked... cant drive the car without it. No

Post  Jimbo Tue Nov 27, 2012 11:24 am

Hey Jamie,

maybe you could post a pic of the offending item? (from the other side maybe?).

There's a couple of breakers on Ebay, might be worth a try?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Austin-Allegro-Estate-MK2-Breaking-for-Spares-99p-only-buys-a-wheelnut-/321030589418?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4abeea0bea

Good luck with that test, not sure how on earth mine got one in July Shocked

Cheers,

Jim

...Thanks Jimbo, I'll post pics when then forum clears me todo so, its the very end one on the shafts that locks the shaft into the outer cv joint made from 1.5mm spring wire, 28mm diameter-ish, the slot on the shaft it sits in is 27mm, so any thats a round about size may fit to do the job but must be no more than 1.5mm thick, but its been the usual case with motor factors around here, they can't be bothered unless its a complete driveshaft these days. I'll buy a 2nd hand shaft if need be but its still a bit poor just for the sake of a clip! ...not as if only Allegro's have drive shafts and front wheel drive is it Rolling Eyes

...Help! Part Wanted! Empty Circlips wanted

Post  Andy Perman Wed Nov 28, 2012 1:44 pm

Try: Radio Spares:

http://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/fasteners-fixings/pins-keys-retaining/circlips/?searchTerm=circlip&sort-by=default&sort-order=default&applied-dimensions=&lastAttributeSelectedBlock=4294538483

or Screwfix:

http://www.screwfix.com/p/circlips-steel-self-colour-350pcs/17113

Singles or Kits of various cir-clips. You'll end up with loads of them i know, but it's cheeper than a whole driveshaft!!

Good luck. Andy.

...Thanks very much Andy, much appreciated - ive managed to track some down after alot of phone calls but ive got there in the end, found a nice guy this end who's a bit of a British Leyland Specialist thru Charlie with his VP, ive got 2 on their way and found another really helpful chap in Loughborough who can get them re-made up if it becomes an issue again. I'll copy the spare in mild steel 1.5mm, bend it upto shape and post it off to him ready just incase cus trying to find these clips & getting them via the usual methods is very tricky indeed Shocked

I will post a picture up of the clip shortly, but these are the sizes for 1500/1750 shaft clip that locks the shaft into the outer cv joint
- 1.55mm wire thickness x 28mm outside diameter

- 1100/1300 shafts - 1.55mm wire x 20mm outside diameter, simular to some Mini's/Metro's Very Happy
