Hi there,

I need a little advice before I start work on restoring my 1978 Allegro 1500 Super -

1). I'm suffering from floppy stalk syndrome, and obviously all I need to do is tighten up the assembly inside steering column cowl. I can see how the top part of the cowl comes off, but not sure about the bottom - presumably it's an Allen key job for security, but does anyone know what size? I don't want to round anything off if I can help it!

2). How do I remove the thin metal 'spoiler' underneath the front valance? I can't quite feel how it's attached.

3). The rubber bushes at each end of the engine stabilisers look shot. Are these standard easy to find items?

4). Does anyone have a battery clamp assembly? Mine is missing Smile

5). I need a fuse box plastic cover too Smile

I think that's it for now. Oh, I'm in Bristol by the way, but can travel for the bits and pieces i necessary Smile

Thanks so much!

Howard

if the cowl is the same as mine it just screws together with self tappers from underneath, likewise with the valance spoiler just self tappers into plastic plugs.
i'll have a look for the spares later i may have them.

Excellent! Thank you so much! I can't even with a torch see in clearly to see what's up those two 'oles at the bottom of the cowl. The previous owner was an enthusuastic messer who made home-made immobilisers etc for the car so may have changed the screws for more secure heads. I think he was a little paranoid about security!

Ta for the advice re the spoiler too, as it does have some rust to attend to and it would be easier to take it off and do it properly!

No great rush for the bits as there is plenty to do, but thanks once again for letting me know!

Kindest wishes, and many thanks,

Howard
